DRY BRUSH - prior to bathing, use dry brush to lightly massage skin  in a circular motion to stimulate blood flow and loosen dry skin.  Start brushing from your extremities towards your core (feet, legs, arms, torso, even your back if you have a friend to help). Follow with  ritual cleansing with your favorite BODY BAR and finish with BODY BUTTER.

BATH - wet brush with warm water and rub bristles on your favorite bar to develop a lather.  Lightly scrub body parts, using a circular motion. Do not use on face.   Follow brush care instructions by rinsing and drying bristles face down between uses.

Handmade brushes are designed to last a lifetime and with a little  care they will age beautifully.  After each use, rinse out any residual soap with warm water.  Shake out excess water and allow the brush to dry bristles down.  From time to time, you may want to refresh the wood with a food grade oil…it needs to maintain a balance too!

Please note that oak contains natural tannins and wet oak may leave rust colored stains on porous hard surfaces, which are easily removed with scouring powder.

In the late 19th century, a small brush binding factory was established in Stockholm. It developed out of a movement to create work for visually impaired artisans, enabling them to live independently from their craft.  A collective was formed to purchase natural fibers and materials for local brush binders and soon a factory and shop was established to sell their quality brushes, keeping the art of brush hand binding alive.

Now, as then, every brush is made by hand by visually impaired craftsmen. All brushes are of exclusive design and made from natural materials.  Iris Hantverk continues to supply individual artisans across the country with necessary supplies.
